A fair amount of that site deals with the threat to the building posed by a highrise going in right next door, and the massive excavation that associates to it.

If you do visit, try and drop me a line beforehand. I am really curious to see some better interior photos - not sure though if they'll allow interior photography mind you.

~ChrisAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14328401081765407624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6261993076995357307.post-67004977562482329502012-01-21T00:24:00.174-05:002012-01-21T00:24:00.174-05:00One other note on the house I found interesting is...One other note on the house I found interesting is that despite the efforts to thwart damage due to natural disasters; the home does not seem to be impervious to those stemming from the man made type:

"And the damage from the wind developing from the building is quite serious.
There is a president where a 15 story high mansion house was built south to the Akagane-goten's gate, right across the street, in 1971 (Showa 46).
The result was, very strong winds developed, causing damages such as breaking the metal gate bar and blowing off the roof from the tea-house next to the entrance gate."

mikeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6261993076995357307.post-24374334811195341092012-01-21T00:13:23.652-05:002012-01-21T00:13:23.652-05:00Hi Chris,

My duty at the time was as tour guide for some friends from Hawaii visiting Japan for the first time... and is often the case Shibuya was opted for rather than an old Japanese house. Go figure.

I'll be sure to take photos, if allowed, and get more information when I visit the next time I'm in Tokyo.

mikeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6261993076995357307.post-80852329013755767942012-01-20T20:17:09.479-05:002012-01-20T20:17:09.479-05:00Hi Chris,
